Topic 1: Buses

Ahhh... Public Transport. The most cost-efficient means of transportation. I remembered the time when I first learned how to commute. It was a lot more simpler then, because I only have to commute from school then back home, during the times that we need to stay at school to practice or something. Believe it or not, I learned to commute during my third year in High School. I know I'm such a total loser. Hehehe...

Anyway, back to my point. Here in our country there are three major ways to get around (in my opinion). First is the FX/Van, a twist from the conventional taxi, but less expensive than the traditional taxi (Today's Taxi Flag down is ridiculously expensive). For those of you who don't know what an FX/Van is, it's like an HOV (High-Occupancy Vehicle). Next there is the Jeepney, a Filipino innovation which in my opinion is a total pain. Yes I know they help lessen traffic congestion but frankly speaking do we need a lot of them? They don't lessen congestion but rather help in causing it. In addition, most drivers pack passengers like sardines. You squeeze in 9 people in a lane than can only accomodate 8 people. Then finally, there is the Bus. There are typically two types of buses, the air-conditioned bus and the one that I love to call as a screaming metal death trap, the ordinary bus.

This motorized piece of metal (ordinary bus) looks like that it can break down any second. The seats appeared to have been attacked by bears, the floors and the chassis have been rusting and rotting to the core, and the engine sounds like that it will give any time soon, and yet I enjoy riding in one. Maybe because its the thrill of knowing that this bus can cause your death, but mainly because the drivers of these buses are probably the sickest drivers around. They drive like loons on caffeine.

Ghen, Ry and I always take these buses on our way home if we decided to take a detour to Alabang from school. I'm starting to get used to it since they taught me how to ride one. But last Wednesday however was not an ordinary bus ride home. As we were waiting at the bus stop at South Station, we were forced to walk and look for a bus at Northgate (because we can't seem to find a bus heading our way). We have to walk through the median lane where sharp thorny-leaf plants are found. So imagine walking through thorns as the person ahead of you pulling back the branches of these trees and as soon as they left they let go of it then these branches hits you right in the smacker. Anyway, it was fun. There's never a dull moment when we are together, like last night when a van broke down on us on our way home. (I think we are cursed or something).

Sticking to our topic, I somehow brainwashed Lirio to take the bus home from Alabang this afternoon, and as expected it was one of those funny commutes. Let's just say it involves a hobo, muddy slippers, and standing near an open bus exit.

Topic 2: Bees

All of you go watch Bee Movie. Jerry Seinfeld is hilarious. And watching it with Ryan and Ghen made it more funny (popcorn, firecrackers, vacant cinema, running children, and a pair of socks with holes in it.) That's all I'm gonna say.

Topic 3: Booty Shaking

While we were waiting for Bee Movie to start, we went to the arcade and played this game called Dance Maniax. It's like Dance Dance Revolution but a lot more fun. At first we were like "You go try it" and stuff but we got hooked. And now we know what we will do during our Friday Break Period.

That's it for now.

Cold War?!?

January 08, 2008
4.20 PM (+08.00 GMT)

The Cold War. The period of conflict and tension between the old Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and the United States of America (USA). Since during this period no actual combat was fought, it can be considered as a Passive-Aggressive war.

Well, you might be thinking "Why in the hell is he talking about the cold war?" Uhmm... As avid readers of my blog should know by now there is somehow a war inside our family that is going on right now. More specifically, a passive-aggressive war. Now I wouldn't go into detail about this. Just read my previous post to simply get the idea on how things started.

So here's an update on what's been boiling down in our family. After the exile of my brother, he is back home. Now he is doing everything he can to avoid my father, and vice-versa. Now there seems to be a development of different factions in the family: My Dad is one, My brother is the other one, My Mom (which is neutral but refuses to take side and refuses to withdraw support from both factions) is the third faction, and finally me and my younger brother. Both of are taking our father's side, but we remain passive and neutral. Now even our extended family is starting to get involve. They keep on asking me about what is happening, and quite frankly, I've been hinting them that my brother was the one who is wrong and they shouldn't believe a single word that no good liar is saying.

In other news, Lirio is trying to convince me to attend the upcoming MCR concert. Sure I'm game for any rocking concert, just as long as we have to purchase the mosh pit ticket, which is usually more expensive. But the down side is I never really liked MCR. And I'm thinking that I wouldn't enjoy the concert. And it would be like flushing thousands of pesos down the drain. I'm really torn with decision. I'll keep you updated.

That's it for now. Classes resumes tomorrow for me.

Bang!!!

January 05, 2008
1.17 PM (+08.00 GMT)

First and Foremost...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Let's start the year 2008 with a BANG!!!

Now that's out, I did start my year with a bang.

No, not that typical Filipino New Year's Celebration involving a ton of fireworks (which I might add was a blast, pun intended). Yes we did toy around numerous pyrotechnic (the usual 1,000 and 3,000 rounds and the new 10,000, yes you heard me right, round firecracker). But the bang that I'm talking about is in a much more serious note. So here it goes.

Yesterday, I mean the day before yesterday, my brother attempted to commit suicide (the usual cutting around the risk type). You heard me right. Since I'm taking up biology, I was in charge to look at the wound, and frankly I could have done worst, or better (whatever). The cut was superficial, it was really a minor cut. And to be frank it was kinda funny. The reason for his "foolish attempt" is he was trying to make a "statement" to his ex-girlfriend, which in my opinion is being strangled to death by my brother. I'm taking her side, she has every right to leave him. He is like an evil plunderer. Stealing from every member of my family and even "scamming" her.

That day my parents also found out about that he was lying about having a job (again). My parents already have a suspicion from the very beginning and they just played along his charades. So back to my story, fearing the worst that "martial law" will be implimented, my brother sought for a kind of political asylum from my grandparents.

So my Pop-Pop and Nana took him in. And in addition, they also took me in. I wasn't seeking any type of protection from them because I'm not involve in the first place, and I was confident that I wasn't gonna get involve. They tricked me by calling at home and telling me to dress up because they are gonna get my brother checked in a hospital and I was assigned to watch over (I'm getting kinda used to it, going to hospitals and stuff). I wore my jeans and left, not even bothering to bring along my phone charger, extra clothes and even my wallet along, because I know that it would be a short stay. Upon arriving to the family residence, I was surprised to find out that we were not leaving at all. And they were trying to contact my younger brother to head to my grandparent's place (but failed to do so). So last night, I have to sleep with the clothes on my back, meaning I have to sleep in my jeans. Upon my stay there I found out that my brother was trying to give my parents a bad rep in front of my relatives. I told them early this morning that it was just an evil ploy of his and they shouldn't believe a thing he say. That he deserve to be punished for what he is doing.

Continuing with my story, I arrived home at around 12.00 in the afternoon (I woke up at around 11.00 am that morning). I asked our maid if something happened last night and she said nothing happened. It was a normal night in our house, except for the fact that my parents talked about it, my brother wasn't involved in anyway. Now everyone is pissed at him. That lying, cheating bastard.

Now you know what I meant by "A Bang".

A Family BANG!!!

In a different note, here is my New Year's Resolution for the year 2008, and maybe keep it as a permanent thing.

In no particular order:
  • Maintain a Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian Status (Being a flexitarian allowed me to eat meat during the holiday season, and now I'm seriously considering dropping the flexitarian status and start a solid Lacto-Ovo Vegan status).
  • Graduate this March 2008 (I'm starting to get scared just by the simple thought of graduation).
  • Go to Med School.
  • Get a part-time job (Med school is expensive).
  • Enjoy more out of life.
  • Learn one or more of the following: Surfing, Wall/Rock Climbing, Ice Skating, Rappelling, Bungee Jumping.
  • Try one or more of the following: Hot Air Ballon Ride, Crazy Food Trip, Talk to Legislative Representative and air out concerns, Talk to City/Municipal Officials about environmenal concerns and other important matter, Write a book or something, Song Writing.
  • Re-learn playing the Piano and probably learn a new instrument maybe the guitar.
  • Try making Viral Videos.
  • Express myself creatively.
  • Try and get more culture in me.
  • Go back in the dating scene (No not the Filipino style of dating) but avoiding any serious relationships at the moment.
  • Try out speed dating.
  • Learn Yoga.
  • Go on a diet.
  • Constantly update my blog and profiles (I'm off to a good start).
  • Re-establish communications with old friends and colleagues
  • Make some new friends.
  • Establish communications with relatives abroad.
  • And all-in-all, be a better person.
I hope my crew would be cool with my resolutions. I really hope they'd pitch in with my more adventurous resolutions.

So that's it for now. It's getting kinda late (It's now 2.24 am).

That's it.

PEACE-OUT
